My Rant…America

Watching the news at night,  I sit and wonder how our country, as mighty and strong as we once were,  ended up here. We have lost sight so quickly of what we are supposed to stand for. I sometimes wonder how thing as outlandish as the Chick-fil-a boycott even comes to exist. I ask myself, why do people not stand up for what is right? Why don't people stand up for what they believe? Then I think about how politically correct I am and how I live my life, in many situations, based on not stepping outside of that box in fear of offending someone.

I, myself, am just as guilty in allowing our country to get here as the people I so quickly blame for our downfall.  Our country was founded on the rights of the people. We have come so far that it seems we are starting to regress.  When did we stop supporting everyones rights and start just supporting minorities rights. If you are not a man- We support your Independence. If you are not Christian- We Support your beliefs. If you are not White- We Support Your Race. If you are not straight- We Support your Sexual Preference.  But what if you are a Man or Christian or White or Straight….or even worse a Straight White Male Christian, then you have no rights and can't speak with out being racist, sexist, homophobic or Hypocritical.  How come minorities are the only ones able to feel proud about who they are? Why should I feel ashamed of being a White Christian?

People fight so hard to get their beliefs and in the bringing "just want to be able to believe, love and live as themselves", but then at some point they forget that. They then become as judgmental as the people they set out to change. What happened to the RIGHT OF RELIGION and SPEECH. Is it that you only believe in your right and once it it heard you leave and stop listening.

It isn't about changing each persons view on things, it about the right to have your own belief system and your fellow American to have the same right,  even if they don't attend the same church on Sunday.

Back to the Chick-fil-A Boycott…Its not about support for gay marriage vs. the family unit, it's about AMERICANS Freedom vs. Government Control. Who's to say the next thing they decide to control something won't be more severe. We have to make a stand for our rights….Black, White, Gay or Straight all as Americans.

DELUX ROAD TRIP

We are headed to born free in June! We have decided to rent an RV, pack up the dawgs and a couple bikes and hit the road. I do not think I have ever been more excited about anything in my whole life....a road trip of EPIC proportions is what this will be.

We have a few stops planned, we want to see the whacky landmarks, the best flea markets and everything else in-between. If you have any suggestions for the route we have planned PLEASE PLEASE let me know.

Sidecars for your Sidekicks

I want a sidecar so bad...They look so awesome! You don't see them very much, which means you could be the guy that rocks a killer sidecar for your sidekick! (HINT HINT LARRY)

They were popular in European countries and in many wars (WWII). They allow you to carry more people without having to use a car, now a days they are really just a novelty.
I say bring them BACK!!

Garage Co. Customs - The Bikes

Garage Company Customs is Larry's Shop located in Pelham Alabama. I may be bias, but the bikes that come out of this shop are all killer. He amazes me with each bike...I just don't know how he makes the same thing, but does it different each time. Guess some people just got it!

ASTRO GLIDE
By far, this is Larry's favorite bike...He loved this thing. Started EVERY time, road like a dream...He will always miss this one.  He sold it to a guy in Japan last year. Maybe one day we will make it to Mooneyes and see this thing again.

BLACK PAN
They built this for Artistry and Iron (Vegas Bike Week) in 2 months. I honestly thought they would not make the dead line...but in Larry fashion he somehow finished and of course, with this awesome bike.

DIXIE WREK'D
MY FAVORITE BIKE for obvious reasons....it rides 2 up! It has that "chopper" look with the long front-end and pull-back bars (chopstix), but has a sportster motor. Best of both worlds!!
This bike got around...She was featured in several magazines and on chopcult, went to Sturgis, the Smokeout and Daytona Bike Week and all we me on the back.

Tinker Bell

FLAT KRACKER
The bike that started it all! Larry, Stewie and me drove to Daytona last minute in a cargo van with 2 bikes and by far that was the best decision we ever made! Our first bike in a magazine! It makes me so happy to think back to that trip....we met so many people, who are now such GREAT friends and have helped us more than they can ever know! How fast these past 5 years have flown by...but what a BLAST

Those were the days....

Over the past five years my passion for any and all vintage has grown and grown... what started as an interest in history, a few fashion choices and a couple of dishes has turned into a lifestyle. It has completely taken me over and can be seen in everything I do.  I am in love with the time period and what people stood for...there was an honesty and integrity that is now gone.  People took PRIDE in their WORK, their COUNTRY, their FAITH and THEIR FAMILY.

I may catch some flack for saying this, but one thing I truly love about this time was the role of a woman... She was a wife/girlfriend, a housekeeper, a mother, and a LADY...and she enjoyed it. Do not get me wrong, I love my independence, but we can still do both. Woman focused on their homes and happiness before their status and pocketbooks. They always looked nice for their man, kept a clean house, cooked for the family and filled the role of a traditional woman.  Men worked and were the head of the household...Things seem work better then than now.

Maybe if we tried some old school values our country would see some turn around.
