HANK WILLIAMS

 Born and RAISED here in good Ole' Alabama, Hank Sr. was born in Mt. Olive Alabama and moved to Georgiana Alabama where he spent most of his childhood.

He started his own band at age 13 called the Drifting Cowboys and played with them throughout his career. Hank struggled with the bottle, but after a hunting accident which required painkillers his addiction quickly spun out of control. He married Aubry Shepherd in Andalusia Al at a Texaco Gas Station by a justice of the peace. (Later was deemed illegal due to complications with her first marriage.)

Hank's untimely death in the back of a car headed to perform seemed like a see but fitting end to a roller coaster career and battle with addiction.  The news was received by the waiting crowd in Knoxville with laughs because they assumed it was just another excuse on his absence. His death was caused by a hemorrhage due to an overdose of morphine, alcohol and painkillers.....

  Keeping with the Wiliams' FAMILY TRADITION of hitting the bottle, music and drugs, Hank Jr. has become synonymous with good ole country boy music about drinking, smoking, sex and guns.....and believe it or not POLITICS. 

Hank has recorded tons of songs and many quickly became southern anthems.

 A loud mouth, whiskey drinking, music singing son of a..... Hank Jr. is one of THE BEST country singers of all time in my book. His songs are timeless and make me proud of being southern - REDNECK  and ALL!

Alabamians...a thing of beauty...!

·         Sweet Tea, Barbecue, fried pie, fried okra, cornbread, sweet potato pie, family recipes, homemade ice cream, peach cobbler ‘nanner pudding, butter beans, fried catfish, grillin out, sawmill gravy

·         New York and California are not taken seriously

·         Gulf Beaches

·         Everyone knows how to tell a good story, Best joke tellers in the world, small talk skill level is a maximum and never a shortage on advice

·         Plenty of elbow room

·   Vintage automobiles are given the respect

·         Flea Markets

·         River Rats

·         Handshakes still effective in business dealings

·         364 day riding season

·         Back porches

·         Your Mamma and Daddy and their Mammas and Daddies

·         Moonshine & homebrew

·         The infield at ’dega on race day

·         You can leave Alabama, but you'll always come back home.....to family

Those were the days....

Over the past five years my passion for any and all vintage has grown and grown... what started as an interest in history, a few fashion choices and a couple of dishes has turned into a lifestyle. It has completely taken me over and can be seen in everything I do.  I am in love with the time period and what people stood for...there was an honesty and integrity that is now gone.  People took PRIDE in their WORK, their COUNTRY, their FAITH and THEIR FAMILY.

I may catch some flack for saying this, but one thing I truly love about this time was the role of a woman... She was a wife/girlfriend, a housekeeper, a mother, and a LADY...and she enjoyed it. Do not get me wrong, I love my independence, but we can still do both. Woman focused on their homes and happiness before their status and pocketbooks. They always looked nice for their man, kept a clean house, cooked for the family and filled the role of a traditional woman.  Men worked and were the head of the household...Things seem work better then than now. 

Maybe if we tried some old school values our country would see some turn around.
